Blandy's 10 year old Sercial is fined and does not require decanting. It is excellent as an aperitif but is also exceedingly good with flambees, dried fruits and spicy cheeses. It has been bottled when ready for drinking and will keep for several months after opening. Pale, bright topaz colour with a golden tinge, fresh with dry fruit, wood and citrus flavours with a fresh and nutty persistent finish.
A large proportion of the sercial grapes are harvested in the upper slopes of the South of the Island where the cooler microclimate ensures these wines have very brisk acidity. The wine is fermented for 5 days before fortification resulting in a drier style. The blend is aged in canteiro for an average of 10 years to ensure an intense and persistent finish.
