Bordeaux has enjoyed some excellent vintages in recent years, and with so many good wines around we thought we'd offer a promotion on five of our favourites. Bordeaux is a region that needs little introduction, but sometimes it's the grand Chateaux that steal the headlines. Look a little harder and you find some exceptional value wines; wines for drinking in their youth and ones that are best after a few years in the cellar. These five have so much going for them. All are delicious right now, but the Ch La Patache and Ch de Lamarque will also provide huge drinking pleasure for some years to come.
ALL WINES PURCHASED FROM THIS OFFER WILL BE DELIVERED BY THE END OF NOVEMBER 2021
6 btl case - 2015 Chateau Naujan Lapeyrere, Bordeaux Superieur, France
The wine estate is situated in Saint-Vincent de Pertignas in the Region of Entre-deux-Mers, near Saint-Emilion. The vineyards are located on an excellent clay- limestone - gravel soil which gives a fine, delicate, elegant wine, with a lovely aromatic complexity.
The complexity is further enhanced by an period of ageing in oak barrels after the fermentation which is in temperature controlled stainless steel vats.
This is very elegant, bright with sweet red and dark fruits and a touch of caramel and vanilla, and a silky smooth mouthfeel.
6 btl case - 2017 Ch de Lamarque, Haut Medoc, Bordeaux, France
Chateau de Lamarque is one of the Haut Medoc's most consistent performers, and in 2017 they produced a wine that outshone many grander names.
It wasn't an easy vintage given the heavy frosts early in the season, but conscientious producers were rewarded with excellent wines to drink over the medium term.
The 2017 from Chateau Lamarque has a vibrant core of cassis and cherry, a good backbone of firm yet forgiving tannins, and on the finish there are notes of cocoa and tobacco. This is a true claret for drinking over the next 4 years.
