2016 Heysen Shiraz, Rolf Binder Wines, Barossa Valley, Australia
The famous Heysen walking trail forms the western border of the Rolf Binder estate; fruit for this wine is grown in the adjacent, low yielding Heysen vineyard.
The nose offers aromas of pain grillé, pencil lead, truffle, espresso, black cherry, and blueberry. Ripe, juicy berry and spice flavours with well-rounded tannins and a good, lengthy finish. A luscious, full-bodied wine that is flavourful and balanced whilst maintaining a sense of elegance.
2015 Ron Thorn Shiraz, Thorn Clarke, Barossa Valley
Ron Thorn Shiraz is made from Thorn-Clarke's best fruit and is produced only in exceptional years; named in honour of owner Cheryl Clarke's father.
Inky, deep red-purple. A rich, dark fruit nose with lifted liquorice and lashings of chocolate-y oak. The palate is dense and powerful with mouth filling presence. Intense dark fruits and cocoa with hints of smoke and spice. The tannins are firm and powerful but integrate well with the ripe fruit and give the palate impressive presence.
