2005 VAT 6 Pinot Noir Winemakers Selection, Tyrrells, Hunter Valley, Australia
This wine was fermented in small hand plunged open vats at Tyrrell's historic Ashmans Winery. Partial carbonic maceration was achieved by leaving approximately 10% as whole bunches in theferment. The wine was then matured in a range of new, one and two year old French barriques. A classic pinot noir - well balanced and full flavoured, with savoury mushroom characters on the nose, sweet varietal fruit in the mid palate, soft tannins and a clean acid finish.
