2014 Malbec Grande Reserve, Altamana, Maule Valley, Chile
An enchanting infusion of old Malbec vines from the esteemed Maule region in Chile paired with pioneering French winemaking. Bordeaux winemaker Didier Debono brings a wealth of experience from both Chateau Clinet and La Croix du Casse in Pomerol to create a range of truly sublime, boutique wines. A rich, seductive nose of bramble fruit, spiced plum and toasty oak. Opulent and layered mouth feel with warming black plum and dark chocolate. Beautifully concentrated with fine-grained tannins and a long, silky finish. Named the Top Value Wine from Chile in the 2015 Wine Spectator's Annual Chilean tasting report, scoring 91/100 points; Kim Marcus praised the wine as having: "An aroma of dark fruit leads to kirsch, plum and raspberry tart flavors."
