2014 Minervois, Chateau Roquecourbe, Languedoc, France
Chateau Roquecourbe have set out to produce a serious Minervois here. For a region that is best known for simple reds this wine really stands out. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre are the main grape varieties and following vinification the wine has been matured in French oak barrels to add complexity and depth. The result is a well structured red with a lovely balance of fruit and spice. The spice is particularly noticable on the nose and on the palate the fruit comes through. This is a very serious Languedoc red.
