We've found Chateau Armens to be such a reliable St Emilion estate, and it's great to be able to get our hands on a vintage that has now reached full maturity.
In 2008 the blend was 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The Merlot has given the wine a plumpness and soft nature that has been enhanced by the fading of the tannins over time. There is still fruit on the palate, but the real joy of this wine is the mature earthy and herbal notes that have developed with age. This is at peak maturity now, so drink over the next 2-3 years.
