2018 Puligny Montrachet, Domaine Lucien Muzard, Burgundy, France
On arrival at the winery the grapes are inspected and selected at the sorting table. The winemaking is traditional without any use of cultivated yeasts. The grapes are very gently pressed and the must is racked off. After fermentation the wine is matured in oak barrels for 10 months with 2/3 of new oak.
Magnificent straw yellow in colour with the pronounced aromas of smokey almond often associated with the richness of Puligny-Montrachet. The wine is round with sweet almond and honey notes and yet taut acidity. The oak is present but nicely integrated. All in all this wine is powerful, elegant and memorable.
