Rarely have a pair of wines come along that have got us quite so excited. Based in the Kakheti wine growing region of Georgia, Koncho Co. produce wines made largely from indigenous varieties following age old production methods. We have chosen this pair of wines because they are both very accessible styles, and both offer exception quality at this price.
The white - Mtsvane is one of Georgia’s most exciting local grape varieties. Its name means green – this refers to the unusual green colour of the grape when ripe. It is known for producing aromatic and refreshing wines. This will definitely appeal to Chablis drinkers
The red - Aleksandrouli is one of the leading red grape varietiesin the region. Here it isblended with 15% Mujuretuli, and aged for 12 months in oak. This is a wine with real typicity – enticing aromas of fresh cherry and caramel jump out of the glass. On the palate, it is balanced and light-to-medium bodied, with notes of strawberry and sour cherry. Juicy and moreish with oaky undertones. Not too dissimilar to a bright Pinot Noir.
