John & William Hardie began their quest to create the perfect Blended Scotch Whisky in 1880, using only the finest and rarest Scottish malts. In 1888 they succeeded in creating what was considered to be superior to all other blends - The Antiquary - available only to a small circle of friends and family. This rare and limited release of just 6,000 bottles pays homage to The Antiquary's founders - it has been crafted from Scotland's most outstanding malt and grain whiskies, all of which have been matured for over fifteen years.
AROMA - Fresh, juicy red fruits like gala apple, red grape and pomegranate are to the fore. The high malt content of this blend is clear with notes of sweet barley and honey. In time these fresh, sweet flavours give way for a pronounced cinnamon spice.
PALATE - The fresh fruit on the nose continues onto the palate and becomes slightly darker with flavours of fresh plum and cherry. A citrus note, like candied orange peel, emerges before a final pinch of cinnamon.
FINISH - Clean with continued flavours of apple and grape.
