Description

The grapes for this wine come from a single parcel in the commune of Mercurey. The soil is lay and limestone and the grapes are hand harvested. After pressing the juice is left to settle for a few days then put into French
oak barrels (none of which are new). Indigenous yeasts are used for fermentation and the wine spends 10 months in barrel before being blended and bottled.

Gaëlle and Jérôme Meunier are based in the village of Barizey, 5 miles from Mercurey. They also have parcels of vines on the Côte d’Or including some excellent parcels in Puligny-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet 1er cru Champ Gain. The wines are rich and easy going in style with great balance and depth of fruit. The Mercurey is light and fruity and perfect for drinking young.
