Description

Aromas of Mediterranean herb garden and ripe berry bushes. With hints of dark chocolate and spicy cloves, this is the perfect blend of sweet and savoury; held together with elegant tannins and fine acidity. Will age beautifully over the next 10+ years. Food pairing: pork, lamb and pasta dishes.

Often mistaken for an Old World wine, comparable to the best of Burgundy. Nothing added and no free run juice taken off. Just perfect aromatic grapes from the lowest yield made into a perfect Pinot with a hands off approach. Immense concentrated flavour for a naturally powerful, low yield wine.

All the Hans Herzog grapes are 100% grown on their organic vineyard at one of Marlborough's best sites, handpicked, produced and bottled on the estate! No grapes are bought in or sold. To make great wines naturally, the fresh grapes must be processed quickly that’s why an on-site winery is so important. The hand-picked grapes arrive a few minutes later in the cool winery, still fresh and wholesome with no need for sulphur to protect them. The winery equipment reflects Hans’ high-quality standards like the old bag press designed for a gentle processing of the grapes. Special finished stainless-steel tanks (in sizes as small as 100 litres for special selections) are used as fermenters and for blending. More than 200 of the finest French oak barrels age the hand-crafted wine in the temperature-controlled barrel hall. Bottling, labelling and packaging is all done at the winery to ensure the quality is never compromised.
