A very inviting pale yellow tinged with green: the Big Fine Girl is mouth-watering just to look at.

And it has a really generous and enormously appealing nose – there’s an absolute torrent of gorgeous ripe pear backed by lemon, lime and floral notes. And there’s some more exotic and tropical fruits too.

On the palate this is a fabulously rich and generous Big Fine Girl, clearly enjoying living up to her name. The acid that gives zest, vivacity and freshness is so beautifully integrated and entwined in the fruit that it’s virtually unnoticeable.

Utterly delicious on its own but oysters, salmon (and other fish), sashimi, salads with zesty vinaigrettes, spicy Asian dishes, and creamy pastas would all be lovely.

Established in 1992, Jeanneret is a family winery with 60 acres of low yielding vines in the Armagh of North Western Clare. The vineyards are farmed organically and the family moto is ‘naturally perfect’ and they aim to make wines which reflect the time and place they come from. The estate is headed up by self-taught winemaker Ben Jeanneret whose ethos is to produce generous wines full of flavour to be enjoyed amongst friends.
