The small region of Rutherglen in Australia is famed for its rich, fortified dessert wines, and this example from Pfeiffer wines is one of the best on the market. The grape drying process and extended barrel ageing gives the wine a deep tawny colour and rich texture. The palate is laden with flavours of raisin and fig which really cling to the taste buds. An essential at Christmas time, but also delicious with baked apples or a spicy suet pudding.
