A supple and beautifully balanced Merlot from Wente Vineyards' Central Coast estate vineyards. The 2021 vintage showcases aromas of ripe red cherry and plum, complemented by creamy oak notes of sweet caramel and vanilla bean. Additional nuances of white pepper, cardamom, and graphite provide complexity and continue to develop as the wine breathes in the glass.
Winemaking:
Crafted from estate-grown Merlot grapes with a small addition of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, and Petite Verdot, this wine retains the soft character of Merlot while gaining additional texture and aromatic tension. The Central Coast vineyards benefit from warm days and cool ocean breezes, helping the grapes retain freshness. The soils are well-drained and contain sandstone, contributing to the wine’s structure and balance.
