Description

A distinguished Third Growth from the Haut-Médoc, Château La Lagune 2005 is a superb example of this highly regarded Bordeaux vintage, combining the estate’s hallmark elegance with the depth, concentration and ageing potential of an exceptional year. The blend comprises 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot.

Tasting Notes:
Deep garnet in colour, the bouquet is complex and beautifully evolved, revealing layers of blackcurrant, blackberry and black cherry alongside notes of cigar box, cedar, spice and forest floor. With time in the glass, nuances of tobacco, leather and subtle toasted oak emerge. The palate is refined and harmonious, combining concentrated dark fruit with silky tannins, freshness and impressive structure. Mature yet vibrant, it finishes long and elegant with remarkable balance and persistence.

Winemaking:
Produced from carefully selected fruit grown on the gravelly soils that have made Château La Lagune one of the leading estates of the Haut-Médoc. Traditional vinification is followed by ageing in French oak, allowing the wine to develop both complexity and finesse while preserving the distinctive character of the vintage and terroir. The 2005 vintage is widely regarded as one of the estate’s finest modern releases and has demonstrated exceptional ageing potential.

Food Pairing:
An excellent partner for roast beef, lamb, venison and game dishes. It also complements mature hard cheeses and richly flavoured mushroom-based recipes, where its complexity and structure can be fully appreciated.

ABV: 13%
