The 2006 Volnay 1er Cru “Les Chevrets” from Henri Boillot is a beautifully expressive Premier Cru Burgundy that captures the elegance and refinement for which Volnay is renowned. Situated in the Côte de Beaune, the “Les Chevrets” vineyard produces wines noted for their perfume, silky texture, and delicate structure. Henri Boillot, one of Burgundy’s most respected producers, is celebrated for meticulous vineyard management and traditional winemaking that allows each terroir to speak clearly through the wine. Crafted entirely from Pinot Noir, the grapes are carefully hand-harvested before fermentation and ageing in French oak barrels, adding subtle complexity while preserving purity of fruit.

Now with almost two decades of maturity, the 2006 vintage is showing wonderful development and charm. The wine offers aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, dried rose petals, forest floor, and gentle spice, layered with hints of truffle and earthy Burgundy character. On the palate it is elegant and beautifully balanced, with softened tannins, vibrant acidity, and a lingering, savoury finish. This mature Volnay pairs superbly with duck, roast poultry, game birds, and mushroom-based dishes, making it a classic and sophisticated expression of fine Burgundy.
