Description

A benchmark expression of traditional northern Médoc, Château Potensac 2014 reflects the pedigree and precision of the Delon family, also owners of Château Léoville Las Cases. Situated on one of the highest points of the Médoc on gravel and limestone-rich soils, the vineyard benefits from a naturally well-drained terroir that brings structure, freshness and longevity to the wine.

Tasting Notes:
Deep garnet in colour with subtle brick highlights, the nose is refined and evolving, opening with blackcurrant, plum and ripe blackberry, followed by layers of tobacco leaf, cedar, graphite and dried herbs. As it develops, savoury notes of earth, spice and leather emerge. The palate is structured yet composed, with a core of dark fruit framed by fine, persistent tannins and a vibrant line of acidity. There is a sense of precision and restraint throughout, leading to a long, mineral-edged finish with lingering savoury complexity.

Winemaking:
A classic Médoc blend led by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, supported by Cabernet Franc and a small proportion of Petit Verdot. Parcels are vinified separately to preserve site expression before careful blending. The wine is then matured in French oak, allowing structure and fruit to integrate gradually while preserving the estate’s hallmark freshness and ageing potential.

Food Pairing:
An excellent match for roast lamb, beef dishes, game and slow-cooked stews. It also pairs well with mature cheeses, where its structure and savoury depth complement richer flavours.

ABV: 13.5%
