A beautifully traditional Rioja Reserva from the historic Bodegas R. López de Heredia in Haro, Viña Bosconia is renowned for its elegance, complexity and remarkable ability to age. Produced from the estate’s Viña Bosconia vineyard, this is a refined, savoury expression of Rioja, combining mature red fruit with spice, earthy complexity and the distinctive character developed through prolonged ageing.
Tasting Notes:
Bright garnet red in colour with subtle brick highlights, the nose is wonderfully complex with aromas of red cherry, raspberry and dried red berries alongside notes of rose petal, tobacco, leather and sweet spice. The palate is elegant and finely structured, with vibrant acidity, polished tannins and layers of red fruit, dried herbs, cedar and earthy complexity. Hints of vanilla, balsamic herbs and forest floor emerge with time, leading to a long, savoury and beautifully persistent finish.
Winemaking:
Produced predominantly from Tempranillo with Garnacha and small proportions of Graciano and Mazuelo, sourced from the estate’s Viña Bosconia vineyard overlooking the Ebro near Haro. Traditional fermentation is followed by extended maturation in old American oak barrels in López de Heredia’s historic cellars. The wine is then given substantial bottle ageing before release, creating the elegant, complex and distinctly traditional style for which the estate is celebrated.
Food Pairing:
An excellent match for roast lamb, grilled beef, venison and slow-cooked pork. It also pairs beautifully with roast game birds, mushroom dishes, charcuterie, traditional Spanish stews and mature Manchego cheese.
ABV: 13.5%
