2017 Terre du Mesnil Millésime Grand Cru Champagne, André Robert, Champagne, France

This 100% Chardonnay Champagne from the Grand Cru vineyards of Le Mesnil sur Ogier has a lovely rich creamy style. First fermentation takes place in used oak, and then it is aged sur lie for close to six years after the second fermentation. The result is a wonderful combination of zesty citrus and ripe greengage alongside nutty biscuity notes.

This is a 14 hectare family estate in Le Mesnil sur Ogier dating back to the 1900s. A wide use of Oak for fermentation gives complexity and richness while the blocking of malo helps retain the crispness of a great Champagne. Their rosé is a saignée method made from Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and is a lovely deep colour and full of flavour. The 2 whites are 100% chardonnay aged for 4-5 years for the Jardins and 6-8 years for the Terre de Mesnil and both are Grand Cru.
