Description

A refined and characterful Pomerol from the small, meticulously managed Château La Patache, situated on the gravel and clay soils close to some of the appellation’s most prestigious neighbours. Under the ownership of Peter Kwok and his family since 2012, the estate has been thoughtfully revitalised, combining traditional vineyard practices with precise, low-intervention winemaking.

Tasting Notes:
Deep ruby in colour, the nose is expressive and layered, with aromas of ripe blackberry, plum and blueberry, lifted by floral hints of violet and a touch of spice. Subtle notes of tobacco and vanilla add further complexity. The palate is supple yet structured, offering generous dark fruit with a rounded, silky texture. Fine tannins and a fresh line of acidity bring balance and definition, leading to a poised, gently spiced finish.

Winemaking:
Predominantly Merlot with a proportion of Cabernet Franc, sourced from a mosaic of parcels with clay and fine gravel soils. Grapes are carefully selected and vinified with parcel-by-parcel precision, using a combination of stainless steel and oak, including a proportion of barrel fermentation. Maturation takes place over an extended period in French oak barrels, allowing the wine to develop depth, texture and integration while preserving fruit purity.

Food Pairing:
Well suited to roast lamb, beef dishes and game, as well as rich, slow-cooked stews. It also pairs beautifully with mushroom-based dishes and soft, creamy cheeses.

ABV: 13.5%
