A refined red from the high vineyards of the Bekaa Valley, crafted by Château Ka, Lebanon’s estate-driven winery. Founded by Akram Kassatly in 1973 and revived after years of conflict, the estate now produces wines exclusively from its own handpicked vineyards. Situated at around 1000 metres above sea level at the eastern end of the valley, the site benefits from a dry, sunny climate that promotes ripeness while preserving freshness and structure.
Tasting Notes:
The nose is delicate and inviting, showing red fruit aromas with subtle spice. On the palate it is medium-bodied with soft tannins and flavours of red berries and red pepper, supported by hints of liquorice on the finish. Twelve months of ageing in French oak barrels adds gentle complexity and texture without overpowering the wine’s fruit-driven character.
Winemaking:
Hand harvested grapes are fermented at controlled temperatures of 27–28°C and undergo extended maceration for around three weeks to extract colour and structure. The free-run wine is then aged in French oak barrels for 12 months, refining the wine’s balance and depth. The result is a red that combines regional freshness with the elegance of careful barrel maturation.
Food Pairing:
Pairs well with beef, venison and lamb, and is equally at home with Lebanese cuisine. Its soft tannins and vibrant fruit make it versatile and food-friendly.
