A beautifully expressive Pomerol from the lower slopes of Château Beauregard, Clos Beauregard is a 100% Merlot cuvée crafted from carefully tended vineyard parcels rooted in sandy-clay soils with iron-rich subsoils. Now managed with meticulous precision, the estate continues a tradition of producing Merlot-driven wines of charm, depth and refinement from this historic Right Bank terroir.
Tasting Notes:
Deep ruby in the glass, the nose is generous and inviting, opening with ripe plum, blackberry and black cherry, alongside lifted floral hints of violet. As the wine develops, notes of blueberry compote, vanilla and gentle spice emerge, underpinned by subtle cocoa and sweet tobacco. The palate is plush and rounded, with a supple, velvety texture and ripe, polished tannins. Dark fruit remains at the core, supported by a fine balance of freshness and structure, leading to a long, harmonious finish with lingering notes of spice and soft oak.
Winemaking:
Made entirely from Merlot, sourced from low-yielding parcels planted at high density. Harvesting is carried out by hand at optimal ripeness, followed by careful sorting and traditional vinification. The wine is then aged for around 12 months in French oak barrels, with a proportion of new oak, adding depth and subtle complexity while preserving the wine’s naturally generous fruit profile.
Food Pairing:
Well suited to roast lamb, beef fillet and duck, as well as rich mushroom dishes and truffle-infused recipes. It also pairs beautifully with soft, creamy cheeses.
