Description

A mature and characterful Cru Bourgeois from the Médoc, Château Les Moines reflects the classic structure and understated depth for which the Left Bank is known. Produced from a Cabernet Sauvignon–led blend with Merlot, this 2018 vintage shows the benefit of careful ripening on the limestone-rich plateau of Couquèques, not far from the Gironde estuary, where the estate has long been established.

Tasting Notes:
Deep garnet in the glass with subtle brick reflections, the nose is layered and expressive, opening with ripe blackcurrant, blackberry and plum, alongside earthy undertones, dried herbs and a touch of spice. With time in the glass, more developed notes of tobacco, leather and cedar emerge. The palate is structured yet supple, with mature dark fruit balanced by fine-grained tannins and a gentle savoury edge. There is a sense of depth and quiet power, leading to a long, slightly spiced finish with lingering notes of fruit and earth.

Winemaking:
A traditional Médoc blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon with a significant proportion of Merlot, the wine is crafted to emphasise ripe fruit expression and classic structure. Careful vinification and maturation allow the tannins to soften while preserving the wine’s natural backbone and ageing potential.

Food Pairing:
Well suited to roast lamb, beef casseroles, duck and game dishes, as well as mature hard cheeses. Its balance of ripe fruit, savoury complexity and structure makes it particularly enjoyable with hearty, slow-cooked cuisine.

ABV: 14%
