Description

A classic and characterful Cru Bourgeois Supérieur from the northern Médoc, Château Saransot-Dupré 2018 comes from one of the most respected estates in Listrac-Médoc. Situated on gravelly clay and limestone soils, the vineyard benefits from a slightly cooler maritime influence, naturally favouring later-ripening varieties and producing wines of structure, freshness and depth.

Tasting Notes:
Deep garnet in the glass, the nose is expressive and layered, opening with black cherry, plum and blackberry, followed by floral hints of violet and subtle notes of liquorice, cedar and warming spice. The palate is structured yet supple, with ripe dark fruit at its core supported by fine, well-integrated tannins. A significant proportion of Merlot brings roundness and approachability, while Petit Verdot adds colour, spice and backbone. The finish is long and composed, showing both fruit purity and savoury complexity.

Winemaking:
A traditional Médoc blend led by Merlot, complemented by Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Each parcel is vinified separately to preserve detail and terroir expression before careful blending. The wine is then matured in oak, where structure and fruit are gently integrated to produce a balanced and age-worthy Listrac style.

Food Pairing:
Well suited to roast beef, lamb, duck and rich, slow-cooked dishes. It also pairs beautifully with hard and semi-hard cheeses, where its structure and savoury notes complement deeper, more intense flavours.

ABV: 14.5%
