Description

Vinciano Riserva is the flagship Chianti DOCG from Fattoria di Calappiano, made in the historic hills around Vinci in Tuscany. The vineyards sit on loose, deep soils rich in limestone and ancient marine fossils, which contribute to the wine’s structure and mineral depth. A Riserva designation reflects extended ageing and careful selection, producing a richer, more layered expression of Sangiovese and complementary permitted varieties.

Tasting Notes:
Dark ruby red with depth and intensity, the nose offers ripe red and wild berry aromas alongside earthy and spicy notes with hints of underbrush and pepper. On the palate it is dense yet balanced, showing juicy fruit, gentle spice and fine, integrated tannins. The finish is persistent, with savoury berry and spice elements that underline its complexity and length.

Winemaking:
Predominantly made from Sangiovese, the grapes are fermented and then undergo extended maceration to extract colour and structure. The wine is aged for 12–14 months in French oak tonneaux (with about 35% new wood) and then refined in bottle for around 12 months before release. This prolonged ageing contributes to the wine’s depth, texture and harmonious integration of fruit and oak.

Food Pairing:
A classic partner for hearty Tuscan fare, this Riserva pairs beautifully with roasted and grilled red meats, braised game, slow‑cooked stews and mature cheeses, where its rich fruit and savoury character can shine.

ABV: 14%
