Sourced from a single vineyard in Samaniego at the foothills of the Sierra Cantabria, this wine reflects the high-altitude terraced vineyards of the Rioja Alavesa at 625 m above sea level. The soils here are a mix of sand and limestone, providing excellent drainage and contributing to the wine’s mineral character.
Tasting Notes:
Deep cherry red in the glass, the nose shows fine, elegant aromas of black fruits, subtle roasted coffee, creamy oak, and mineral nuances. The palate is full-bodied, structured, and fleshy, combining ripened dark fruit with gentle toasted notes. A long, harmonious finish underlines the wine’s precision and balance.
Winemaking:
The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted to select only the best clusters. Pre-fermentation maceration occurs at low temperatures for five days, followed by fermentation in French oak vats. Malolactic fermentation and ageing take place over 14 months in selected new French oak barrels, with regular lees stirring to enhance texture and complexity.
Food Pairing:
Pairs beautifully with roasted or grilled red meats, game, and mature cheeses.
ABV: 14.5%
