This 2021 Pinot Noir comes from Iona’s vineyards in the Elgin Highlands, one of South Africa’s coolest winegrowing regions. The estate’s elevated sites benefit from slow, even ripening and careful, minimal‑intervention viticulture, including organic and biodynamic practices.
Tasting Notes:
The wine greets the nose with succulent black cherry, bright yet delicate fruit and hints of forest floor, supported by underlying floral and spicy notes. On the palate it is textured and powerful, with a silky length and a harmonious balance of fresh fruit and savoury structure.
Winemaking:
Grapes are hand harvested and sorted before fermentation. Small amounts of whole bunches are included for added complexity, and the wine is matured for 12 months in French oak barrels, where malolactic fermentation takes place and lees contact enhances texture.
Food Pairing:
Pairs beautifully with dishes such as duck breast, mushroom risotto or roasted poultry, where its balance of fruit intensity and savoury structure can shine.
ABV: 13.5%
