A bold and characterful expression of Plavac Mali from the steep, sun-drenched vineyards of the Pelješac peninsula. Croatia’s most important indigenous red grape, Plavac Mali is a natural crossing of Crljenak (known internationally as Zinfandel/Primitivo) and Dobričić. On the rugged slopes of southern Dalmatia, where vines are exposed to intense sunshine and maritime influence, the variety develops its hallmark power, depth and aromatic intensity.
Tasting Notes:
Dark ruby in colour with a subtle blue hue, the nose is beautifully developed and expressive. Aromas combine sweet notes of dried and baked fruit with ripe cherry, alongside hints of vanilla, coffee and distinctive Dalmatian herbs. On the palate it is bold and full flavoured, with concentrated dark fruit balanced by rounded tannins and gentle spice. The finish is smooth, warming and persistent, reflecting both the grape’s natural richness and the sun-soaked character of Pelješac.
Winemaking:
Produced from estate-grown Plavac Mali cultivated on the peninsula’s demanding, rocky slopes, where low yields and abundant sunshine encourage concentration. Careful vinification preserves the grape’s varietal identity while allowing its distinctive aromatic profile and structure to shine.
Food Pairing:
An excellent match for grilled meats, lamb and robust Mediterranean dishes. It also pairs well with mature cheeses and slow-cooked recipes.
ABV: 13%
