This Reserva from Clea by Bardos is crafted in one of Ribera del Duero’s most challenging vineyard zones — the high and cool páramos of Burgos and Soria — where old low‑yield Tempranillo vineyards and a small component of Cabernet Sauvignon thrive at altitude. The Clea range is inspired by the rugged character of the land and honours the tenacity of the women who have long worked these vineyards.
Tasting Notes:
Intense cherry red with violet and purple highlights, the nose shows great aromatic depth, with ripe dark fruits complemented by notes of chocolate, spice and gentle smoky nuances. On the palate it is well structured and harmonious, with powerful fruit, noble mature tannins and fine acidity. The finish is lingering and refined, combining strength with elegant balance.
Winemaking:
The wine is made predominantly from Tinta del País (Tempranillo) with a smaller proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. Grapes are hand‑harvested and fermented with extended maceration in large vats before malolactic fermentation in new French oak. The Reserva is then aged for around 16 months in new French oak barrels, which integrates structure and complexity while preserving freshness.
Food Pairing:
A versatile Reserva that pairs exceptionally well with roasted or grilled red meats, hearty stews, grilled game, mature cheeses and rich tomato‑based dishes. The bright acidity and refined tannins help it stand up to bold flavours while maintaining freshness on the finish.
