Description

A structured and expressive Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru from the climat “Les Serpentières”, produced by the historic Domaine Maurice Ecard. Situated at the northern edge of the Côte de Beaune, this site sits on clay-limestone soils that bring both depth and tension to Pinot Noir, resulting in a wine that combines generosity of fruit with classical Burgundian structure.

Tasting Notes:
Deep cherry red in the glass, the nose is layered and complex, opening with ripe strawberry, blackcurrant and red cherry, followed by subtle notes of spice, dried fruit and gentle coffee-like nuances. The palate is generous and well defined, with ripe red and dark fruit framed by fine tannins and a fresh line of acidity. Balanced and expressive, it finishes long with a touch of savoury depth and mineral tension.

Winemaking:
Grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel using traditional methods, including pre-fermentation cold maceration and a long fermentation with regular punch-downs and pump-overs. The wine is then aged for around 15 months in French oak barrels, with a proportion of new oak, adding structure and complexity while preserving the character of the fruit and vineyard.

Food Pairing:
A versatile Premier Cru that pairs well with roasted and grilled meats, particularly beef and lamb, as well as game dishes and mature cheeses. Its balance of fruit, acidity and tannin also makes it suitable for short- to mid-term cellaring.

ABV: 14%
