A classic Morgon from the historic Hospices de Beaujeu estate, crafted from Gamay grown on granitic soils with manganese-rich subsoils in the heart of one of Beaujolais’ most characterful crus. This wine reflects the depth and structure for which Morgon is renowned, offering a more serious and age-worthy expression of the region.
Tasting Notes:
Deep ruby in colour, the nose shows subtle notes of spice and gentle woody nuance alongside ripe dark fruit. The palate is rich and expressive, with concentrated berry flavours supported by a firm yet balanced structure. A touch of grip adds definition, while underlying minerality brings freshness and length to the finish.
Winemaking:
Produced using traditional methods, the wine undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel with extended maceration and regular pumping over to enhance extraction and structure. This approach allows for greater depth, complexity and ageing potential while preserving varietal character.
Food Pairing:
A natural partner for terrines, pâtés and charcuterie. It also pairs well with roasted meats and hearty dishes, where its structure and depth can fully express themselves.
