Description

A distinctive and characterful Lebanese red from one of the Bekaa Valley’s best-known estates. The 2019 vintage combines equal proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Carignan, bringing together dark fruit, spice and savoury complexity with the freshness and structure that have become hallmarks of Château Musar.

Tasting Notes:
Deep blood red in colour, with a dark and expressive nose of blueberry, cranberry and blackcurrant alongside black olive and clove. The palate brings ripe cherry and plum together with warming spice and a touch of black pepper, while lively acidity keeps the wine fresh and energetic. Fine, well-integrated tannins provide structure, leading to a long, savoury finish with plenty of depth and character.

Winemaking:
The three varieties are fermented with native yeasts in concrete vats before spending 12 months in French Nevers oak. The components are then blended and the wine is bottled without fining or filtration, followed by extended bottle maturation before release. The unusually wet 2019 growing season followed several years of drought and resulted in wines with concentration, freshness and notable depth.

Food Pairing:
A natural partner for roast lamb, slow-cooked beef and game, as well as richly flavoured Middle Eastern dishes. Its combination of ripe fruit, savoury complexity and fresh acidity also works beautifully with grilled meats and mature cheeses.

ABV: 13.5%
