An authentic Georgian red produced using the ancient qvevri method, this Saperavi from Tbilvino reflects both the deep-rooted traditions of Kakheti and the naturally powerful character of Georgia’s signature grape variety.
Tasting Notes:
Deep violet in colour with an intense and expressive nose of ripe black cherry, blackberry and blackcurrant, alongside notes of dried plum and subtle earthy spice. The palate is rich yet balanced, combining dark berry fruit with savoury depth and a distinctive textural character gained from extended skin contact in qvevri. Velvety tannins and fresh acidity bring structure and poise, leading to a long, complex finish.
Winemaking:
Produced from 100% Saperavi grown in Kakheti, Georgia’s most important wine region. The wine is made using the traditional qvevri method, with fermentation and maturation taking place in large clay vessels buried underground. The wine remains on its skins and stems for an extended period following fermentation, enhancing texture, complexity and ageing potential. The vineyard’s alluvial soils and warm, dry growing conditions contribute concentration and depth, while careful yield control ensures balance and purity of fruit.
Food Pairing:
An excellent partner for grilled and barbecued meats, slow-cooked lamb dishes, roasted vegetables and rich stews. Its structure and savoury complexity also suit mature cheeses and smoky Mediterranean flavours.
ABV: 13.5%
