A classic Recioto della Valpolicella from the historic Tedeschi estate, this Capitel Fontana expresses the richness and tradition of one of Veneto’s most revered sweet wine styles.
Tasting Notes:
Deep ruby red in colour. The nose is expressive and layered, with aromas of ripe raspberry, wild blackberry and blueberry, complemented by violet florals and subtle hints of spice and menthol. On the palate, it is rich and velvety, offering concentrated dark fruit flavours balanced by freshness and structure. Gentle notes of sweet spice and oak frame a long, harmonious finish where sweetness remains lifted rather than heavy.
Winemaking:
Produced from hand-selected grapes grown in a single east-facing vineyard in the Valpolicella Classica zone. The blend includes Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and traditional local varieties. After harvest, the grapes are carefully dried for several months in controlled conditions to concentrate sugars and aromatics. Fermentation begins naturally and is stopped to retain residual sweetness, before maturation for around two years in Slavonian oak casks, followed by further bottle ageing prior to release.
Food Pairing:
An excellent match for chocolate desserts, berry tarts and almond-based pastries. It also pairs beautifully with mature cheeses, where its sweetness and acidity create a balanced contrast.
