An expressive Grüner Veltliner from the Niederösterreich region of Austria, produced by Funkstille, a grower-producer known for crafting wines that highlight both the varietal purity of Austria’s signature white grape and the terroir of the Danube valley. Grüner Veltliner is Austria’s most widely planted white grape and is valued for its fresh acidity, mineral drive and nuanced aromatics.
Tasting Notes:
Pale straw in colour with bright green highlights, the nose shows subtle exotic hints alongside ripe pear and fresh citrus aromas. On the palate it is dry and richly flavoured, with notes of melon and grapefruit supported by a lively, zippy finish. The wine’s balance of fruit intensity and refreshing acidity gives it appeal across a range of occasions.
Winemaking:
Made from 100% Grüner Veltliner, the grapes are grown on well-exposed vineyards in Niederösterreich where cool nights and warm days foster expressive aromatics and crisp natural acidity. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel to preserve purity of fruit and the grape’s characteristic freshness. Minimal intervention ensures clarity and varietal expression.
Food Pairing:
An excellent partner to seafood, shellfish and fresh salads, as well as vegetable dishes and light chicken preparations. Its vibrant acidity also makes it well suited to Asian-inspired cuisine and lighter Mediterranean fare.
ABV: 12.5%
