A distinguished Brunello di Montalcino crafted exclusively from Sangiovese, this elegant wine reflects the depth, structure and timeless character of one of Tuscany's most prestigious appellations. Produced by Poggio Scudieri, Officium combines power with refinement, offering impressive complexity and excellent ageing potential.
Tasting Notes:
Deep garnet red in colour, the nose is intense and beautifully layered, revealing aromas of ripe black cherry, wild berry and plum, intertwined with notes of violet, tobacco, leather, cedar and sweet baking spice. The palate is full-bodied and refined, with concentrated red and dark fruit supported by firm yet polished tannins and vibrant acidity. Subtle hints of cocoa, balsamic herbs and earthy minerality add further complexity, leading to a long, elegant and persistent finish.
Winemaking:
Produced exclusively from carefully selected Sangiovese grapes grown on the hills surrounding Montalcino. Following traditional fermentation, the wine is matured for an extended period in oak casks before further ageing in bottle, allowing the flavours to integrate and the wine to develop exceptional depth, structure and finesse while remaining true to its terroir.
Food Pairing:
A superb accompaniment to roasted lamb, grilled Florentine steak, slow-braised beef and game dishes such as venison or wild boar. It also pairs beautifully with truffle dishes, wild mushroom risotto and mature Italian cheeses, including aged Pecorino.
