This Chianti comes from Fattoria di Calappiano, a historic estate in the hills around Vinci in Tuscany, owned and managed by the Sensi family. The vineyards sit on hillside soils rich in marine fossils, marl and sandstone, where Sangiovese thrives and expresses bright fruit and fresh acidity typical of the Chianti DOCG.
Tasting Notes:
Clear ruby red in the glass, the bouquet displays classic red berry aromas of cherries, plums and hints of spice, complemented by subtle roasted coffee notes. On the palate the wine is juicy and lively, with vibrant acidity, soft tannins and a fresh, sapid finish marked by gentle balsamic and fruit‑driven length.
Winemaking:
Made primarily from Sangiovese (in line with Chianti DOCG requirements), the grapes are fermented for 10–12 days at controlled temperatures, followed by extended maceration and malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks on fine lees for about six months with micro‑oxygenation to develop texture and soften tannins while preserving freshness and clarity of fruit.
Food Pairing:
An excellent everyday Tuscan red, it pairs beautifully with white meats, roasted pork, grilled vegetables, traditional antipasti and medium‑intensity pasta dishes with tomato‑based sauces. Its lively acidity and bright fruit make it especially food‑friendly.
ABV: 12.5%
