Description

We think this is as good as Verdicchio gets. Crisio is produced in the vineyards of Serra de’ Conti area, next to the Casal Farneto Wine Estate, on a soil of medium consistency tending to sandy with a southwest exposure. To ensure grapes are picked at their ideal ripeness the vineyard undergoes three harvests during the ripening season. Fermentation of the first harvest is in small barrels and the following two in steel tanks. The wines are blended after fermentation and aged for a further year in tanks before bottling and aged for a minimum of one more year in bottle before release.

The result is a wine that displays plenty of stone fruit, fresh citrus and floral notes on the nose. On the palate the barrel fermented portion of the wine gives it texture and structure. It is more full in body than your typical Verdicchio and flavours really do coat the mouth. A slight nuttiness then comes through on the finish.

A wine to be savoured that is a wonderful accompaniment to rich seafood dishes, white sauces, mushrooms, truffles and soft cheeses.
