Description

A vibrant and expressive Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) from Weingut Hanewald-Schwerdt in the Pfalz. Now led by Thomas Hanewald and Stephan Schwerdt, the estate forms part of Germany’s new generation of quality-focused producers, with an emphasis on dry wines that clearly reflect vintage and vineyard. In the comparatively warm Pfalz, Spätburgunder achieves excellent ripeness while retaining freshness and structure.

Tasting Notes:
Bright ruby in colour, the nose opens with fresh strawberry and cherry aromas, supported by a subtle savoury nuance. On the palate it is medium bodied and well balanced, combining juicy red fruit with gentle spice and a mineral undertone. The tannins are fine and integrated, leading to a fresh and approachable finish.

Winemaking:
Crafted in a dry style to highlight purity of fruit and site expression, with careful fermentation and maturation aimed at preserving clarity and balance. The focus is on varietal definition and drinkability, reflecting the estate’s philosophy of precise, terroir-driven winemaking.

Food Pairing:
A natural partner for duck, pigeon and other game birds. It also complements charcuterie, roast chicken and mushroom-based dishes.

ABV: 13%
