Barolo Priore is produced by Cantine Povero in Piedmont and is made from 100% Nebbiolo grown in the Langhe hills. Barolo is one of Italy’s most renowned DOCG appellations, celebrated for powerful, long-lived wines that combine structure, complexity and a strong expression of terroir.
Tasting Notes:
Intense garnet red in colour, the bouquet is elegant and complex, offering aromas of violet, wild rose and cassis, alongside notes of cinnamon, anise and subtle leather. On the palate the wine is warm, dry and full-bodied, with firm but balanced tannins and vibrant acidity supporting flavours of dried fruit, earthy spice and savoury undertones. The finish is long, persistent and refined.
Winemaking:
The wine is made exclusively from Nebbiolo and produced in accordance with Barolo DOCG regulations, which require extended ageing prior to release. Cantine Povero is a family-owned winery based in Cisterna d’Asti, with a long tradition of working sustainably in the vineyards and focusing on classic Piedmontese varieties. Their Barolo reflects a traditional style, emphasising structure, elegance and ageing potential.
Food Pairing:
A classic match for rich dishes such as braised beef, slow-cooked lamb, game, truffle-based recipes and mature cheeses.
