A distinctive English white from Sharpham Wines in Devon, produced under their “Don’t Feed the Ponies” range from fruit grown at Tipley Hill. This cuvée reflects a more experimental approach, while still rooted in the estate’s cool-climate Devon terroir influenced by the River Dart and surrounding Dartmoor landscape.
Tasting Notes:
Pale straw in the glass, the nose opens with lifted aromas of lemon peel, elderflower and soft orchard fruit, alongside subtle notes of toasted nuts and a gentle creamy, yoghurt-like nuance. The palate is rounded yet fresh, combining citrus and ripe yellow fruit with a soft textural richness, delicate oak spice and a gently savoury, mineral-edged finish.
Winemaking:
Made from 100% whole-bunch-pressed Madeleine Angevine, spontaneously fermented and matured for nine months in a combination of stainless steel and older French oak. The use of neutral oak allows texture and complexity to develop without overpowering the wine’s natural fruit expression. Bottled with minimal intervention to preserve purity and character.
Food Pairing:
Well suited to roast chicken, creamy fish dishes, mushroom risotto and lightly spiced vegetarian plates. Its balance of freshness and gentle richness makes it versatile at the table.
