A dark and characterful Douro red created by Van Zeller Wines in collaboration with Iron Maiden. Crafted from traditional Portuguese grape varieties and aged partly in Port barrels, this blend showcases the richness and intensity typical of the Douro, combining depth of fruit with structure and spice.
Tasting Notes:
Deep in colour, with aromas of blackberry, ripe black cherry and plum layered with subtle spice. The palate is bold and full-bodied, showing concentrated dark fruit supported by a rounded texture and gentle savoury complexity. The finish is rich and persistent, with a lingering note of spice and dark berries.
Winemaking:
A blend of indigenous Douro varieties including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinto Cão. Each contributes to the wine’s structure and character, from dark fruit and floral lift to spice and depth. A period of ageing in Port barrels adds additional richness, texture and complexity while maintaining balance.
Food Pairing:
Well suited to grilled meats, slow-cooked dishes, barbecued ribs and hard cheeses. Also enjoyable on its own, where its bold fruit and spice can be fully appreciated.
