The 2023 Mapuche from Viña Las Niñas is an expressive red blend from the Colchagua Valley, created from predominantly Carménère with a small addition of Syrah. The vineyards in Apalta benefit from Pacific breezes and Andean influences that moderate temperatures, supporting slow ripening, fresh acidity and concentrated fruit character.
Tasting Notes:
Deep and vibrant in colour, this wine opens with intense aromas of ripe cherries, raspberries and blackberries, complemented by subtle spicy undertones. The palate is juicy and well balanced, with ripe red fruit layers, a touch of black pepper spice and silky, elegant tannins that carry through to a pleasing, persistent finish.
Winemaking:
An organic blend of approximately 90 % Carménère and 10 % Syrah, the wine is produced in a style that combines fruit intensity with structural balance. The grapes are vinified with a period of gentle maceration and maturation in wood, enhancing complexity while preserving varietal character.
Food Pairing:
Pairs beautifully with roasted or grilled meats, game, charcuterie, pasta dishes and pizzas — dishes that complement the wine’s ripe fruit, spice and smooth tannin texture.
