A poised and characterful Mercurey from Domaine Gaëlle et Jérôme Meunier, sourced from two well-situated parcels in the heart of the appellation. Reflecting the strengths of the Côte Chalonnaise, this Pinot Noir combines freshness, precision and subtle structure, offering an authentic and quietly refined expression of Mercurey.
Tasting Notes:
Bright ruby in the glass, the nose is expressive with aromas of red cherry, cranberry and soft floral notes, complemented by a hint of gentle spice. The palate is fresh and vibrant, with juicy red fruit at its core, supported by fine tannins and a touch of subtle oak. Well balanced and supple, it finishes with a clean, lifted edge and a pleasing sense of energy.
Winemaking:
Grapes are hand harvested from clay-limestone soils and fermented over 10–15 days using indigenous yeasts. The wine is then matured for around 10 months in French oak barrels, with a proportion of new oak, adding texture and complexity while allowing the fruit to remain at the forefront.
Food Pairing:
A versatile Burgundy that pairs well with roast meats, grilled lamb and poultry, as well as charcuterie and earthy vegetable dishes. Its balance of freshness and structure also makes it a natural partner for soft cheeses and classic French cuisine.
