Description

A fragrant and approachable Dolcetto from the Monferrato hills of Piedmont, where the variety thrives in producing wines of vivid fruit and easy charm. Cantine Povero is a family estate with deep roots in Piedmontese winemaking, combining tradition and sustainable practice to craft wines that reflect their origin and varietal character. This Capitano del Palio expression offers greater texture and layering than many Dolcetto examples, delivering both freshness and depth.

Tasting Notes:
Bright ruby in colour, the nose is perfumed with red cherry and berry aromas alongside subtle floral notes. On the palate it is medium bodied and more structured than typical Dolcetto styles, with ripe red fruit at the fore and a soft, approachable texture. The finish is fresh and satisfying, maintaining the wine’s fruit-forward character while offering gentle complexity.

Winemaking:
Produced in a sustainable manner without chemical fertilisers or herbicides, reflecting the estate’s commitment to environmentally conscious viticulture. Fermentation and maturation are designed to preserve varietal purity and fruit expression, resulting in a wine that balances immediacy with structure.

Food Pairing:
A versatile partner for pasta with tomato sauces, pizza, charcuterie and light meat dishes. Its soft tannins and vibrant fruit also make it enjoyable on its own.

ABV: 13%
