An expressive example of Argentina’s much-loved Bonarda, produced by Bodegas Staphyle in Mendoza. The winery, revived by the Porretta family in the early 2000s within a restored 1930s building, combines traditional architecture with modern winemaking to craft balanced, characterful wines. Sourced from vineyards in Ugarteche and Agrelo in Luján de Cuyo — one of Argentina’s historic wine regions — this Premium Bonarda highlights the grape’s vibrant fruit and supple structure.
Tasting Notes:
Deep ruby in colour, the nose is alluring and lifted, offering vivid red fruit aromas with a hint of violet and a subtle roasted herb nuance. On the palate it is medium-bodied and soft textured, with fresh red berry flavours supported by gentle spice from a period of barrel ageing. The finish is smooth and harmonious, retaining freshness and balance.
Winemaking:
Grapes are harvested from Mendoza vineyards in the Luján de Cuyo area, where altitude and sunshine encourage full ripening while preserving natural acidity. Fermentation is carried out with careful temperature control to maintain fruit purity, followed by a measured period of oak ageing to add complexity and structure without overshadowing the varietal character.
Food Pairing:
A versatile red that pairs particularly well with roasted meats, grilled vegetables and hearty pasta dishes. Its supple texture and bright fruit also make it an excellent match for barbecued dishes and semi-hard cheeses.
ABV: 13%
