A deeply coloured and expressive Shiraz from the Clare Valley, where warm days and cool nights encourage ripe, structured wines with impressive depth. Jeanneret Wines specialise in wines that balance generosity with precision, and this Rank and File Shiraz delivers both intensity and refinement.
Tasting Notes:
Very dark in colour, the nose is rich with blackberry and blackcurrant aromas, layered with dark spice and a subtle creamy note that enhances its inviting character. On the palate it is full bodied and generous, offering abundant dark fruit supported by firm tannins that provide structure and length. A zesty freshness runs through the wine, adding energy and balance to its powerful fruit profile. The finish is long and satisfying, reflecting the wine’s depth and concentration.
Winemaking:
Produced from Shiraz grown in the Clare Valley, where warm days and cool nights encourage ripeness while preserving natural acidity. The grapes were fermented at carefully controlled temperatures to preserve fruit purity and structure. The wine spent up to 12 months on its lees, enhancing texture and complexity, before maturation in oak for 17–23 months, which contributes subtle spice and integration without overwhelming the varietal character. This careful approach results in a Shiraz that is approachable in youth yet capable of developing further complexity.
Food Pairing:
A natural partner for chargrilled meats, barbecued dishes and robust flavours. It also works beautifully with hearty stews and mature cheeses.
