A wonderful example of modern Australian Chardonnay (i.e. careful oak integration and elegance over power). Bright, fresh aromatics of stone fruit and citrus blossom on the nose. On the palate it has a crisp freshness, flavours of grapefruit and nectarine with subtle French oak influence adding weight and complexity. Clean, natural acidity carries flavours to a long finish.
Three lifelong friends and business partners, Warwick Lavis, Geoff and Karyn Cross strengthened their alliance in 2003 with the purchase of a vineyard which is now named Ironcloud.
Ironcloud Estate (formerly Pepperilly Estate) is situated in the picturesque Ferguson Valley, in the hills of the Geographe Wine Region, overlooking Geographe Bay.
The vines were planted in 1999 in highly prized red gravelly loam soils and the estate comprises of a single vineyard of 28 acres comprising hand-tended Grenache, Shiraz, Mourvedre, Malbec, Touriga, Saparavi, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.
The winery is now rated as 5 star by James Halliday and all 3 quality levels offer great value for money!
