Description

A bold and expressive field blend from the granite slopes of the Frankstein Grand Cru in Alsace. Crafted by Domaine Charles Frey, this cuvée combines Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Muscat to deliver a wine of aromatic richness, textural depth and mineral precision. Although blends cannot officially carry the Grand Cru designation, this wine takes its name from the historic vineyard and reflects its exceptional terroir.

Tasting Notes:
Beautifully perfumed with ripe pear, mango and peach aromas, lifted by hints of ginger, nutmeg and citrus zest. The palate is generous and layered, combining exotic fruit with refreshing acidity and a finely etched mineral backbone. Complex and harmonious, it evolves beautifully in the glass, revealing new nuances with each sip. The finish is long and balanced, marked by elegance and structure.

Winemaking:
Grown organically and biodynamically on steep granite soils, the grapes were vinified together as a traditional field blend to preserve the vineyard’s character. Indigenous yeasts and a low-intervention philosophy allow the terroir to shine, while gentle ageing for 12 months on lees in ceramic vats adds texture and depth. The wine is bottled unfiltered without added sulphites, reflecting Domaine Charles Frey’s commitment to natural winemaking and ecological farming.

Food Pairing:
Superb with rich seafood dishes, roasted poultry and lightly spiced Asian cuisine. It also pairs well with creamy vegetable gratins and characterful cheeses.

ABV: 13%
